After losing to a heartbreaking three pointer against Albany in the America East Championship game last season, thus missing out on the NCAA tournament, Stony Brook’s Men’s Basketball team is looking for a rebound.
The team finished the 2014-2015 season with a 23 win and 12 loss record. The 2015-2016 team will have all five of their starters, including returning seniors Carson Puriefoy and Rayshaun McGrew.
Also returning is senior Jameel Warney, who was named America East Player of the Year for the second consecutive year and Defensive Player of the Year for 2015.
One roster change to keep an eye on this season could be the return of Ahmad Walker. Walker spent his freshman year with Stony Brook and was an American East all-rookie team selection. Last year, Walker transferred to Barton Community College where he averaged 20 points per game, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. If Walker can produce similar numbers, he could be making a difference this upcoming season.
The team is set to tip off at Binghamton on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016. The first home game is on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016 against the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
