Stony Brook Men’s Basketball will be heading to the NCAA tournament for the first time, and their first round matchup will be against the University of Kentucky.
The Seawolves will play in Des Moines, Iowa this Thursday.
Their opponent, Kentucky, has a record of 26-8 and comes out of the Southeastern Conference.
Stony Brook won the America East Conference for the first time in the school’s history this season, and that is much due to the team’s star, senior Jameel Warney. Warney had 43 points in the championship game and lead his team to a 80-74 victory against Vermont, coming back from as much as a 14 point deficit in the second half.
The team is entering the tournament as a 13th seed team, while Kentucky is a 4th seed in the East Region.
Stay tuned for updates as we get closer to the tournament.
