So being apart of the leadership at the Indie requires two things: 1) always being able to come up with good ideas and 2) being patient sitting around listening to a million bad ones too. It usually means sitting around a conference table and painstakingly bouncing ideas off each other. But today we are putting two of them, Executive Editor Lauren Fetter and Business Manager Justin Iaquinta, to the test with a game called “The Next Big Thing.”
The game is simple: Lauren and Justin are competing against each other to persuade Julio, the resident multimillionaire mogul and judge, into buying and endorsing their newest product. Julio will read each of them a prompt with an everyday, household object and a daily task. They will decide what its new use will be and how it can make a consumer’s life easier. They will each get 60 seconds to pitch him their new invention and name it. After two rounds each, Julio will decide who wins.
Leave a comment below for who you think should have won.
Special thanks to Julio Avila, a.k.a. the deep voice you hear, but don’t see, echoing through the Union basement, WUSB Music Director Mike Gusev, our eager new engineer Dave Donovan, JD Allen for production, our Executive Producer Lauren Fetter and our guests. Thanks again Justin Iaquinta for working so hard this semester.
