We’ve all been there: You’re 10 years old sitting at your desk in class, listening to your elementary school teacher explain the importance of good reading skills, proper grammar use and, of course, spelling. And with that, you and your classmates must face off in a good ‘ole spelling bee.
The Stony Brook Independent staff has decided to take on that same grade school challenge, with each contestant trying their hand at spelling five pre-selected words: capricious, demagogue, procrastinate, haberdashery and prerogative. The results weren’t too pretty.
Special thanks to our esteemed contestants Carly “I Won My Fourth Grade Spelling Bee” Gassmann, Julio “The Voice of God” Avila, Janelle “Hate Me Cause You Ain’t Me” Clausen and the Dynamic Duo: Abigail “I Need Kerry” Wolfenberger and Kerry “I Need Abigail” Nisler.
