Unlawful imprisonment, a fake check and hundreds of dollars in cash stolen. I’m Kevin Matyi, and this is the Crime Report for Oct. 5 to Oct. 11, here on Indie Air.
- At 9 A.M. Stony Brook University Police Neil Farrell, there was “very little damage,” and “the case has been closed.”
- After 8 P.M. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at the Student Union, a male resident reported that his bike and its lock had been stolen. The case remains open.
- On Wednesday, Oct. 7, a female unaffiliated with Stony Brook University attempted to cash a check which she reportedly received from the University. It turned out that the check had been forged. The case is currently under investigation.
- After 2 P.M. on the same day, a male offsite contractor at the Long Island State Veterans’ Home unlawfully imprisoned a female offsite contractor because she found him not working. The male contractor was given a Faculty/Staff Referral.
- A male who is unaffiliated with the university reported that while driving at approximately 4 P.M. on Oct. 8 at the University Hospital, his Dodge Charger had been hit by a soda can thrown by the driver of a silver pickup truck. According to Assistant Chief Farrell, the truck’s driver is still unknown, and the case is currently under investigation.
- A female employee at the University Hospital reported just before 5:30 P.M. on Saturday, Oct. 9, that $400 had been stolen from her purse. The case is still under investigation.
- While on foot patrol at 9:30 P.M. on Saturday, Oct. 10, police officers found four male residential students smoking marijuana. All four students were referred.
