Facebook is the hub for all things trendy. Insider and Tasty videos are being spread like wildfire and people just cannot seem to get enough! Whether it is giant over-the-top shakes, edible cookie dough or liquid nitrogen ice cream, there is something out there for everyone. Plus, if you get the angle just right, these fun treats make for a perfect Instagram picture that is sure to get you some likes.
Spend your summer satisfying your sweet tooth and upping your Instagram game at these Long Island and NYC hotspots.
1. Burgerology – 226 Merrick Rd, Rockville Centre, NY 11570
Recently, Burgerology has become well known for their out-of-this-world shakes. The oversized dessert is served in glasses covered in frosting and coated with a variety of treats. Toppings include, but are not limited to, churros, lollipops and cookies. As their name suggests, Burgerology serves burgers. The menu offers 19 different burgers to choose from, as well as a “B.Y.O.B.” (build your own burger) option.
2. Avocaderia – Industry City Food Hall, 254 36th St Brooklyn, NY 11232
Avocaderia is the world’s first avocado bar and is located right in NYC! Dishes on the menu include breakfast and lunch bowls, salads, toasts, smoothies, and of course, guacamole. No matter what you order, you are sure to be served avocado!
3. DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections – 550 LaGuardia Place New York, NY 10012
Eating raw cookie dough can be addicting but unhealthy. Luckily, DŌ, a shop that sells edible cookie dough, is located in NYC and even ships their egg-free treats nationwide. Currently, DŌ’s website features its 16 available flavors, including its seasonal options, Egg Hunt, Cake Batter and Snickerdoodle. All products are entirely kosher and some are even vegan and gluten-free!
4. The Doughnut Project – 10 Morton Street NY, NY 10014
The Doughnut Project incorporates fresh and seasonal ingredients into its baking. Whether it is a Blueberry and Parsnip Doughnut, The Everything Doughnut, a PB&J Doughnut or the Bacon Maple Bar, there is something that is sure to pique your interest.
5. -321 Ice Cream Shop – 288 Grand Street, Brooklyn, NY 11211
-321 Ice Cream Shop is not your typical creamery. Upon entering the shop you will watch the ice cream process, what its website describes as, from “start to cup.” Ingredients are treated with a blast of nitrogen causing temperatures to hit -321. The finished product? Well, you will have to go, and find out for yourself.
6. Clinton Hall – 90 Washington Street New York, NY 10006
At this restaurant and beer hall you can find the obvious, beer and bar food. But what may surprise you is its selection of super-sized games and treats. You are invited to play extra-large games such as Jenga and Connect Four while snacking on some seriously indulgent waffles. “WTF Waffles,” as they are referred to on the menu, are served with cotton candy, caramel popcorn, cream cheese whipped cream and may even be topped with a piece of red velvet cake, depending on your order!
7. Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer – Four locations: SOHO, Meatpacking, Midtown and Broome Street
Black Tap may have been the first place in NYC to kick-start the crazy milkshake frenzy. Its extravagant, over-the-top frozen desserts are colorful, ginormous and are sure to give you a sugar rush. Shakes are topped with slices of cake on the straw, ice cream sandwiches and even cotton candy.
8. Buns Bar – 263 West 19th Street New York, NY 10011
Buns Bar is right on trend, serving enormously delicious shakes. These milkshakes will leave your mouth watering, and your sugar levels at an all-time high. The glasses are coated with frosting and are covered with sprinkles, cereals and assorted candies. These colorful creations are either topped with cake or a s’mores sandwich, depending on your order.
9. 10Below Ice Cream – Four New York locations: Chinatown, Flushing, Lower East Side and the East Village
10Below Ice Cream is NYC’s original rolled ice cream shop. These Thai-inspired ice cream rolls are fresh and made-to-order. Flavors range from “Get Avo-Control,” which is made with fresh avocado and himalayan salt, to “Rainbow Unicorn,” rolled with sprinkles and graham crackers.
10. Soft Swerve NYC – 85B Allen Street, New York, NY 10002
Soft Swerve offers unique flavors such as ube yam, macapuno coconut, matcha green tea and black sesame. Customers are stunned by the ube yam ice cream’s vibrant purple color and surprisingly sweet taste. The swirls of these different yet delectable flavors are what keeps people coming back for more. Plus, they are super pretty!
