Spring break is upon us all and we all know what that means for college students. Sleep and binge-watching shows. So why not add some anime in that sleep, eat, watch tv, and repeat schedule. There is a lot of good anime out there to watch but here are some that might keep your eyes glued on the screen during break.
1. Blue Exorcist Season 1 and 2
Blue Exorcist or Ao no Exorcist surrounds the life of the character, Rin, who discovers that he’s the son of Satan. Various demons are now after him once his powers are awakened. After a tragic incident, Rin is sent off to a boarding school where he will learn to become a respectable exorcist, people who fight against demons.
This is only a brief summary of this action packed series. Season 2 of the story arc recently premiere in Jan. 2017 so there is more than enough episodes to enjoy throughout break.
2. Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon
Apart from Blue Exorcist, this anime is more on the lighter side of this list and it will have you asking yourself, “What is happening?,” in a comedic way.
Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon or Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid is a lighthearted anime that surrounds the daily boring life of Miss Kobayashi. Well, at least it was boring until a giant dragon shows up on her doorstep claiming that it wants to be her maid. This anime follows the crazy and random adventures of Miss Kobayashi after the dragon girl named Tohru enters her normal life.
3. Kiss Him Not Me
Another anime with some interesting comedic elements to it. Kiss Him Not Me is about a high school girl named Kae Serinuma, who is what we call an otaku (in other words, a person who is crazy about everything anime related). One day, Serinuma magically loses weight and everyone in her school starts to notice how pretty she is. That includes 4 boys that she interacts with daily but they never noticed her beauty when she was heavier. (Well except for one of them but that’s besides the point). But in the beginning she wasn’t really interested in dating them, she actually wants them to date each other!
4. Youjo Senki
Apart from the last two in this list, this anime has a more darker theme. This anime follows an elite man in Japan who upsets a mysterious being who calls himself “God.” The man is then reborned as a young orphan female child named Tanya Degurechaff, and enlists to fight in the front lines during World War 1.
5. Ajin (Netflix original)
The last anime would be great for those of you with a Netflix account. This is a Netflix original series that takes place in modern Japan but there are rare people called Ajin, who can’t die like normal people. Such as if they were hit by a car, they will die for a few minutes and come back to life. Not everyone in this universe possesses this power, but when the main character, Kei Nagai, discovers that he is one of these rare people. His life then turns upside down, from being a regular student studying to get into medical school to a runaway fugitive.
