As the weather starts warming up, everyone gets excited about fun in the sun. Spring has finally come to take us out of the dark and cold days of winter. When it comes to spring, most people focus on the warm days, working out for the summer beach body and trying to escape the death grip of allergies. But if you are as big of a nerd like me, spring also means a new anime lineup.
1. Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan Season 2
It seems like this is the season for revival anime series. First on the list is the anime that captured a lot of anime fans’ hearts back when it first premiered in 2013. That show is none other than Attack on Titan, and after 4 years of waiting, season 2 is finally out!
For those of you who are late, Attack on Titan takes place in a medieval world where derpy looking naked giants called “titans” exists. One day, the peace among the human race gets disturbed after their wall is destroyed, allowing titans into their villages and making them basically titan food. But the main character, Eren Jaeger, vows to kill all the titans after a tragic experience during his childhood, but there is a twist after Eren discovers he possesses a rare power.
Season 2 will continue right after the ending of Season 1. Make sure you catch up on the first season to understand the craziness that is to come.
2. Boruto: Naruto Next Generation
Anime fan or not, you should have seen or heard of this quirky ninja in an orange suit. Yes, I am talking about the anime that tops many charts in the anime fandom, Naruto. Naruto’s manga series ended back in 2014, and the anime series recently aired its last episode on March 23, 2017, and fans were left with a bittersweet moment. This long-running legacy has finally ended but what happens after Naruto achieve his goal?
Now, I did not finish all of Naruto Shippuden yet, but I am fully aware of what future events occur. Boruto will mainly follow the future generation of ninjas. Of course, the lead will be Boruto, who is the son of Naruto and Hinata. As the series goes on you will see the differences between the new generation versus Naruto’s generation, as everything becomes more modernize after Naruto is made hokage.
3. Boku no Hero Academia
To be completely honest, I have not got a chance to check this series out yet. I am a struggling college student, but I have heard great comments about this show from my fellow anime lovers. Also if this series is getting a second season, that must mean it is good since most animes do not live past 13 episodes unless it is particularly popular. I will definitely watch this after finals.
4. Kenka Banchou Otome: Girl Beats Boys
This last show differs completely from the others in the genre. I have not started watching this show either, but a few months ago I discovered the trailer. This is show is quite unique because it started as a game, more specifically an otome game.
“Otome game” literally means “maiden game.” It is specifically targeted towards the female audience (but not exclusive, if men are interested in playing), where you can play as a female main role and follow a story line where the lead will have options for a romantic relationship with one of the several men (or occasionally women).
In this show specifically, a teenage girl who lived in an orphanage for most of her life, runs into her twin brother. He then asks her to take his spot in an all-boys school that is run by the nation’s toughest delinquents.
These are only a few of the giant list of new anime series that you can start watching, in case none of these animes catch your interest.
