As a former Starbucks barista and Starbucks enthusiast, I feel confident saying I know the best drinks. An occupational hazard is that I also know some pretty weird and gross ones that I have seen or have heard from my coworkers. Please try not to gag.
1. Chai Tea Latte with 12 Pumps of Chai
The average chai tea latte has anywhere from three to five pumps of chai, which is a condensed cinnamon and tea blend. Then it is tempered with milk. One dude ordered a TWELVE PUMP CHAI, which sounds absolutely revolting. I like chai as much as the next person, but I do not like drinking pure condensed sugar syrup.
2. Any Kind of Tea with a Shot of Espresso
Pick tea or coffee/espresso. Do not mix the two.
3. Hot Water with Classic Syrup Sweetener
What the heck??? Is the point???? Of hot, sweetened water???? Why would someone do this???
4. Lattes or Coffee with Extra Shots of Espresso
I might be biased because I like my caffeinated beverages to taste good, but why bother filling up a drink with steamed milk, syrup or whipped cream if you are just going to overload it with the bitter taste of espresso?
5. Green Tea Frappucino with Frap Roast
Frap roast basically the coffee base for caffeine based frappucinos. Green tea frappuccinos are caffeinated because of the green tea matcha powder in them. Again, why are you mixing coffee and tea? It looks so much darker than a regular green tea frap. It is wrong. It is unconstitutional.
6. The Coldbuster
This is actually a pretty well known secret menu item, and the idea has always repulsed me, especially when making it. These drinks are made with two bags of hot tea to start but get this: one is a jade citrus mint green tea and the second one is peach tranquility. Then it gets hot water and STEAMED LEMONADE. It also gets honey and a pump of peppermint. It sounds as bad as orange juice and toothpaste.
7. Anything with a ton of extra caramel or syrup
People seriously used to watch and make me add extra caramel in the cup and on top of a drink or ask for a ton of syrup in a drink. I like sweetening up bitter drinks as much as the next person, but I have no particular desire to drink straight sugar.
