On Wednesday, Sept. 17, there were three catalytic converters stolen from vehicles parked at the Environmental Conservation Building. Five days later another converter was stolen at Hamilton College, and the day after that, from the South Campus parking lot. Assistant Chief Neil Farrell said these thefts have been occurring throughout Suffolk County and that the University Police are “working in conjunction with the Suffolk County Police.” The investigation remains ongoing.
On Thursday, Sept. 18, there was an attempted motor vehicle theft at Cardozo College, Roth Quad. The investigation remains ongoing.
From Thursday night, Sept. 18, in to Friday, Sept. 19, there were four separate incidents of possession of marijuana over the course of three hours. The first instance occurred at the South Parking Lot that led to five student referrals. The second, from Roosevelt Quad, was the only instance that lead to an arrest. The third one involved approximately 10 people, however only one student was referred. The final was a single male at the LIRR Parking Lot, who was also given a referral. There was a fifth incident at Grey College in which a female student claimed to have smelled marijuana smoke, however it was found that her claim was incorrect.
On Sept. 19, two Fire Marshals responded to an arson call at the Student Activities Center a little after 10:45 a.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 20 there was an arrest for DWI on Shirley Kenny Drive northbound to Circle Road.
At around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, a piece of electrical equipment started a fire in the Mathematics Building, setting off several alarms.
