Nothing is better than sun-kissed skin and a perfect day at the beach. Well, maybe one thing– a bathing suit that actually fits. The last time I was truly comfortable in a bathing suit was my junior year of high school, and since then I have been on the hunt for plus size bathing suits that do not look like they belong in my grandma’s closet.
According to Cosmopolitan, “In the fashion industry, ‘plus size’ is a term for models who are size 8 and up. But in the real world, most people would never think of a size 8 as plus size – most plus-size clothing doesn’t even start until a size 16.”
1. Forever 21
I am kicking off this list with my personal favorite, Forever 21. The suits are affordable, trendy and the perfect amount of sexy without being too extra.
Torrid is great; the swimsuits are made well and are true to size. Although it is more expensive than Forever 21, the quality of Torrid’s swimwear makes it worth the price.
As we all know, Target has everything you could ever possibly need conveniently located in one place. Kitchenware, toys for kids, clothes, food and even plus size bathing suits! Each suite on Target’s website is $34.99 or less.
4. Adore Me
Adore Me’s plus size swimwear is, by far, some of the cutest I’ve ever seen. Whether it is a one-piece or a bikini, this website has something for everyone. They have a large selection to choose from and their sizes range from 0x to 4x, and depending on the swimsuit, cup sizes that range from a 38DD to 46DDD.
If color and patterns are not for you then perhaps ASOS is. Most of the swimwear listed on its website are black and simple. Prices vary, but if you catch them during a sale you are in for a treat.
ModCloth is every girl’s swimwear dreams come true. They offer plus size girls a wide variety of prints and style options to choose from at a price that does not totally break the bank. This stunning Royal Velvet one-piece can be found on the website for $89.99.
7. Lane Bryant
Cute, but expensive. Lane Bryant is usually a hit or miss for me but the swimsuit collection on their website right now is looking pretty fashionable, if I do say so myself.
This website has EVERYTHING. Whether you want a one piece, tankini, something with underwire or a bikini, Swimsuitsforall has it. What is even cooler is that if you tag your photo on social media with #swimsuitsforall, the website could feature you!
9. Lord & Taylor
Most of Lord & Taylor’s plus size bathing suits are pricey, for example, this bikini top alone is $72.00, but it is super cute. This season the L&T website has a variety of floral prints to choose from, along with some plain suits. Although their selection is not too large, they could have just what you are looking for.
Last but not least, good ol’ Miraclesuit. Let me tell you– if you are looking to get it right and get it tight these are the suits for you. Miraclesuits are expensive but, if you are in the market for a bathing suit that will last you for more than just one season, they are worth it.
