1. Get The Hell Out Of Here

College can really take the wind out of your sails, especially if you are like many of us and work on top of going to school. If you are a commuter, you are probably totally sick of this place too, so over the vacation try to get off the island as much as possible. Even if it is just for a long weekend or an overnight trip, there are plenty of ways to have an affordable vacation. See something while you have the time.

2. Get In Shape

It sounds cliche but after a few months of the cold summer break is a perfect chance to go outside and get more active. Use that free time to start taking care of yourself, not to reach some silly “beach body” goal, but just to feel better yourself.

3. Work On Your Passion Projects

Perhaps there is something that you have wanted to get into that you simply have not had the time for during the semester. Maybe you want to get into painting, or work on photography. Now is your perfect opportunity to work on things you want to do rather than what you are assigned to do. If you are interested in learning anything technical, such as software or web design, Lynda.com has some amazing video resources for those looking to learn new skills.

4. Catch Up On Your Backlogs

During the semester countless movies, books, or games have probably come onto your radar that you have not had time for. Now that you have the time treat yourself to a new book or some new movies and catch yourself up on all the entertainment you have been missing out on. God knows my movie backlog has become massive over the last few months.

5. Disconnect Yourself

Being in college requires you to constantly be connected, whether it is getting information from your professors or just keeping in touch with classmates. Take the opportunity to disconnect this summer. Try a social media detox, and spend less time attached to a screen. Go outside, get together with people you have not seen in a while in a meaningful way. Life goes beyond your Instagram feed, take advantage of it while you can.
