Celebritea Cafe sits in between a bakery and hair salon on DeKalb Avenue and is just minutes away from Brooklyn Tech, a specialized high school. Large, red-cushioned seats and a giant coffee table lends the café a relaxing vibe while the latest radio hits play in the background. The vibe is young and hip, as the workers who wear their hats that say “A-money” portray.
Although the cafe has only been opened for a year, it is gaining popularity amongst students and local neighbors who enjoy a good cup of bubble tea.
Wei Chen, co-owner of Celebritea, said, “They [people] think it’s something different. It’s a very fast growing neighborhood with the new Barclays Center and there are a variety of people so we are very well accepted here. We add something different to the neighborhood.”
Celebritea is the only bubble tea place in Fort Greene and also one of the few bubble tea places that also serve American drinks such as coffee, lattes and frappuccinos. They also provide fresh oatmeal and toppings throughout the day as well as chocolate cake.
The most popular items on the menu, however, are still Taro flavored bubble tea and Passion Fruit.
