Roth Food Court Not Ready To Open

The Roth food court renovations are structurally complete but still not ready to open, Lisa Ospitale, director of marketing for campus dining services, said in a recent interview. The university had hoped to complete the renovations in time for the start of the fall semester.

“All the major construction is done,” Ospitale said. “It will be open sometime this semester, and that’s all I can really say.”

She added that the university had always promised the food court would reopen sometime in the fall semester and that it never officially specified a date.

The holdup comes from waiting for the proper health permits and certifications necessary to reopen the facility, which closed for renovations after the spring 2007 semester. Ospitale said she was unsure of when the permits and certifications would be received.

The renovations will include a Wendy’s, Mama Leone’s Pizza, Seawolves Subs, International Market and a Pura Vida Coffeehouse. For more information on the eateries, visit www.stonybrook.edu/fsa/renovations.
